Medi-Cal Expansion and CHP
Medi-Cal has expanded to all low income children, regardless of immigration status. Many of our current CHP members are now eligible for Medi-Cal. The CHP children eligible for Medi-Cal will no longer be eligible for CHP after December 31, 2016, or when they enroll in Medi-Cal Managed Care (if sooner).
Eligibility Criteria after the Expansion per 2016 Federal Poverty Level Guidelines
Program | Household earnings |
---|---|
Medi-Cal | 0 – 266% of federal poverty level (up to $64,638 for a family of 4) |
Kaiser Permanente’s CHP | 267 – 300% of federal poverty level or (between $64,639 – $72,900 for a family of 4) |
We want our CHP members to understand what the Medi-Cal expansion means for them, how to apply for Medi-Cal, and if interested, how, depending on geography, they may be able to choose Kaiser Permanente as a Medi-Cal plan and/or provider.
We are committed to minimizing member confusion and helping our Medi-Cal eligible members avoid a gap in coverage during this time of transition.
