Children who can’t get any other coverage can apply for the Child Health Program (CHP) from Kaiser Permanente.*

What is the Child Health Program?

The Child Health Program (CHP) provides health coverage for children and young adults who don’t have access to other health coverage. CHP members pay no monthly premiums and have no out-of-pocket costs for most care at Kaiser Permanente facilities.

Who is eligible for CHP?

You may qualify for CHP if:

  • You live in the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. California service area
  • You’re 18 or younger
  • Your household income is no more than 3 times the federal poverty level (for example, up to $40,770 for a single person or $83,250 for a family of 4 in 2022)
  • You aren’t eligible for any other health coverage, like Medi-Cal, Medicare, a job-based health plan, or financial help through Covered California

You don’t need to be U.S. citizens to qualify for CHP.

Applying for CHP

You may apply for CHP during the open enrollment period, which runs from November 1, 2022 through January 31, 2023.
